Esther Relph
Baptised October 1749, eighth child born to Joseph and Elizabeth Relph (nee Simson). The family lived in Sebergham a village on the edge of the fells about 10 miles south of Carlisle. Esther married Robert Proddow at Crosthwaite in March 1773, they had seven children, Simeon (1774 baptised at Threlkeld), Deborah (1775 Crosthwaite), Esther (1777 Crosthwaite), Robert (1780 Threlkeld), Jane (1782 Threlkeld), Ann (1787 Threlkeld) and Ralph (1791 St John's in the Vale). Esther would have been about 42 when her last child was born. Presumably the family moved around over the years judging by the variety of baptism locations. Threlkeld is about 5 miles east of Keswick, Crosthwaite was the main Parish in Keswick. Information on the baptism records shows that Esther was born at High Hill, Robert and Jane at Hollas, and Ann at Highrow.
