Esther Proddow Wall, the eldest of 8 children, was
born 28th May 1893 in Thornton, and married Fred Yarwood
at Thornton Parish Church on 22nd December 1922. They had
4 children Violet (December 1923),
Mildred (April 1925, died aged one day), Harold (May 1926)
and Bernard (May1929).
Esther and Fred initially lived in Carleton before moving
back to Thornton. After Fred died in 1939 Esther lived
most of her life in Holmes Road, Thornton before moving
into sheltered accommodation in the early seventies, the
photo (left) was taken there at Christmas 1974. She died
