Jean Yarwood (nee Hadden)

Jean was born in Bristol in 1961, at the time her parents lived in Patchway, later moving further north to Alveston. In 1979 after A Levels she enrolled at the Dorset House School of Occupational Therapy in Headington, Oxford and qualified three years later, going on to work at the Nuffield Orthopaedic and the John Radcliffe both renowned Oxford Hospitals. Jean and Stephen met through mutual friends in 1981, and were married in 1983, moving to Bedford in 1986 where Jean worked for a year at Bedford Hospital (South Wing). She took a break from full time work after Anne was born in 1987, followed by Alice in 1988, Ian was a later addition in 1996.

Since 1992 Jean has worked for the Royal Mail as a postwoman in Sharnbrook where we live, it's hard work and an early start, but fortunately the sorting office is literally 100 yards away.

On her Royal Mail issue bike, gears a recent innovation (!), she delivers letters to far flung places, some in the centre of the village and others several miles out in the rural fringes. She usually finishes work shortly after midday leaving some precious time for rest and relaxation until the children start coming home from school around 3.30pm.

Jean just loves books, books and more books. She currently has membership of six book clubs, and has recently discovered the Internet as a further source, in particular Amazon and BOL, massive catalogues at competitive prices (end of commercial!).
