Richard Wall

Richard Wall was born in Hatfield, Herefordshire 1867, to Benjamin and Elizabeth Wall (nee Cadmer). Quite why he moved 200 miles north remains a mystery, presumably it was to find work yet to our knowledge he had no specific trade being described as a labourer on his 1891 marriage certificate. A resident of Fleetwood at the time he married Elizabeth Annie Fenton at Thornton in December 1891. His new wife came from a long line of Fentons from Thornton. Five of the eventual eight children are in the photograph, the eldest Esther Proddow (extreme right), the unusual name being that of her great grandmother, Leonard (extreme left), who was blind, James, Richard (front), a surviving twin, and Harold (baby). The photo would have been taken in the Spring of 1902, it is very much of its time dressed as they are in their Sunday best. Richard died at Mill Terrace, Thonton in 1909 aged 42, and is buried in the local Cemetery.
