Fade Away is a B-side to the single of When Dreams Turn To Dust. It's quite nice.

Lyrics:

I shine for you
Always
All my life
Oh my angel

I [?] your light
With mine
And protect me
Oh my angel

As I endeavour
To treat you right
The hand still feeds
While the mouth still bites

There's no commotion
I make no fuss
It's a [?]ation to both of us
I'd rather be lonely than see you stay
I'm begging you to admit the same

Watching it all fade away
Watching it all fa-de away

I stood by you
Always
What a fool
For my angel

Did I not suffer to treat you right
I see no reason to stop and fight
There'll be no secrets
There'll be no lies
There's no resistance
It's no surprise

Do we stay and prolong the pain
Making up just to slip again

Watching it all fade away
Watching it all fa-de away
Watching it all slip away

Did I not suffer to treat you right
I see no reason to stop and fight
There'll be no secrets
There'll be no lies
There's no resistance
It's no surprise

Why do we stay and prolong the pain
We're getting nowhere yeah yeah

Watching it all fade away
Watching it all fa-de away
Watching it all slip away
Watching it all fade away

I'm losing my dream today
I'm losing my dream
I'm losing my dream today

Review

Fade Away is, er, interesting. It's the first solo song of Cathy's since the era of
Into The Skyline, no co-writer, nothing. And it's different. Very different. Yes it seems belongs in the Am I The Kinda Girl time period, but it doesn't really fit anywhere exactly. It's different again. Having given it a thorough listen (or as thorough as I can be if I want to get this out tonight) I like it. Quite a lot actually. It's deeper if you listen to what's being said. Thematically it's similar to Baggage a similar sort of "break up" song.
Rating... 4/5
