Songs : Falling

Falling is very much mid-period Cathy Dennis. It has a feeling of American style soul/love songs.

Lyrics:

You think I'm indestructible, but I'm not
I'm just a petal from a flower
And I'm falling
Deeper into you

You think that I'm susceptible, but I'm not
The truth is scaring you to reason
Why I'm falling deeper into you

Oh, won't you pick me up
And carry me off into the skyline
Oh, won't you pick me up
The Sun hasn't shone in such a long time

You think that I'm indispensible
But I'm not, I understand your insecureness
And I'm falling deeper into you

Oh, won't you pick me up
And carry me off into the skyline
Oh, won't you pick me up
The Sun hasn't shone in such a long time

Oh, won't you pick me up
And carry me off into the skyline
Oh, won't you pick me up
The Sun hasn't shone in such a long time

A long time, a long time, a long time
For such a long time, a long time, a long time
A long time, for such a long time

Falling, falling in love
Falling in love with you for such a long time

Review

Falling typifies a lot about what is right about
Into The Skyline and also a lot that's wrong. It is an enjoyable love song with some good music to it. The sound is a lot more subtle than a lot of Cathy's early work and seems very much set on the course of American style soul. The PM Dawn versions of the song seem to make it rather more serene and mournful than the album version, if that's really possible.
Falling's video is genuinely bizarre, Cathy is in a box, Cathy is not in a box. It's snowing, no those are rose petals, now it's snowing rose petals while Cathy is kneeling in a box, pushing at the lid. Wierd.
