The Saint Neots Wombles got a taste of competitive hockey on Sunday, travelling to Bedford to play in an Under 9's competition. Having not played a great number of proper games, they excelled themselves to win 3 out of 4 of their pool games and then lost at the semi-final stage to a strong Cambridge City side. Goals were scored by Henry King (5), Guy Newsom, Keeley Mooney and Alex Paske. Michael Grabarz, Michael Hornby, Andrew Eldridge and Garth Mooney made up the rest of the squad, with 11 year old Nick Moore coaching. |
