The 'Broken Heart' Harp Guitar
This harp guitar was inspired by the late Gibson 'R' harp guitars, which had only six sub bass strings. I call the sound hole design the 'Broken Heart'. I had the instrument for a while before it made it's debut at The Harp Guitar Gathering in 2003 where it received wonderful appraisal all round. The 'Broken Heart' sound holes were designed with both aesthetic and tonal deliberation. Also this instrument's design does not restrict the choice of tone woods that are available thus offering one of the best combinations of woods for steel string guitars, Sitka spruce with Indian Rosewood. The six bass strings are tuned to the 'Stephen Bennett' tuning low to high G, A, B, C, D, G.
