A bit about me …….

Until recently I played and sang in ‘Noddy’s Lot’, a four-piece band performing pop, rock and folk classics at lots of pubs, clubs and events around the South East. Currently I am playing in a trio called Soiree.

However, I’ve always been drawn to solo artists like James Taylor, Paul Simon, Ralph McTell, Nat King Cole, Al Stewart, Joni Mitchell, Joan Armatrading, Nanci Griffiths and, more recently, Eva Cassidy. Artists who created magical music just by themselves.

For a while now I’ve played jazz and 30’s and 40’s  standards, mainly for my own pleasure or when asked. However, the style seems to be coming back into  favour - and rightly so because many of these songs are masterpieces. It’s still rare to hear them ’live’ though, unless you go to a jazz club or book me!

I also write the odd song myself in contemporary style, mainly to do with the positive aspects of human experience and the world (let’s face it, there are enough miserable songs already).

As for performing, I don’t use gadgets, gizmos, effects, drum machines or backing tracks - good songs can stand up by themselves! I do have a PA system but I don’t play LOUD.
