Tanners Folk Sessions News October 2009

First a welcome to the new warden, Louisa! As you may be aware know there has been some uncertainty around if and how the folk nights would continue at Tanners due to increasing costs. The three Folks a year will now continue until at least December 2010, and we have Louisa’s support to try and make sure that they can continue for much longer than that.  In order to ensure that the Folk weekends are financially viable with the YHA, we need to keep the bed nights up, pre-booking where possible (if you do need to cancel, the YHA will give you 90% of your money back if you cancel more than 24 hours ahead).  The aim is that regulars can guarantee a bed while ensuring that Louisa has plenty of time to publicise the sessions and take bookings from other people, so that the hostel is as full as possible.  Thanks to all the people who have already pre-booked beds and camping through to Dec 2010. It is this that has given us the guaranteed dates through to Dec 2010. The last session in September 2009 was a cracker, but we need more bodies (preferably live and paying) in the beds, as well as the £5 ‘day trippers’ who help contribute to the costs. Think of the advantages, like enjoying a drink without the worry of driving home and waking to the sound of rustling leaves and birdsong. Remember though - anything good requires a bit of effort and commitment. Staying home is easy, but this is your ‘Folkation’! Why not book a bed now? And spread the word.
