Formed
in 1965 "The Green" played home games at Bedfont Recreation
Ground, Hatton Road, Bedfont.
Joining the West Middlesex Sunday Football League in Division
6 Manager Tom Fountain Snr guided the team through the league
to the Premier Division in 1972.
In
1973 amalgamation with the local rivals Bedfont United formed
the current day Bedfont Sunday FC.
The
current Chairman Doug White was mascot to the Club in it’s
early years and took over the name “Bedfont Green FC” in 1981
and has played for, promoted and represented the Club ever
since. The “Green” switched to a single side in the Hounslow
and District Saturday League and enjoyed continual success
in league and cup competition before transferring to the original
Woking and District League, together with an affiliation to
Surrey County in 1986 with the addition of a Reserve side.
With
continued expansion in the last four seasons the Club now
enjoys four Saturday sides (2 teams playing Senior football
and the 3rds and 4ths playing in the Guildford & Woking Alliance)
an Under 8s team and a traditional Sunday team, making it
the largest Club in the area that is not corporately supported.
The club hopes to expand further next season and has won most
domestic honours over the years. All of the teams still play
in the original blue, red and white colours of the team strip
of some forty years ago.
Season
2003/04 proved a major success with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams
all winning their respective league division championships
and our 4th team, who were our youth section, finishing runners-up.
The 1st team also went on to regain the SCILW Premier Cup
making a double whilst the 3rd team exceeded all expectations
and completed a treble taking the GWAFL Intermediate Cup and
a Surrey County Cup.
The
First Team were promoted to the Combined Counties Division
1 and in their debut season finished runners-up! A
new home venue was required and a move to Avenue Park in Greenford
saw the club reach the Premier Division and Senior football
for the start of the 2005/06 season.
The Club’s ambitions are to satisfy it’s growing membership
and to extend a warm welcome to all and to introduce an academy
of youth and children’s sides of all ages and abilities.
The
Bedfont Green Football Club is run by few, but for the benefit
of many.
