Stringing FAQ
Contained below are answers to various questions that we have received over the last few months regarding restringing. If you have a question you would like answered please email us. The best questions (and answers) will be posted here.
Q/ Is it true that a tightly strung racquet gives you more power ?
A/ No. A tightly strung gives more control. A less tightly strung racquet gives a 'sling shot' effect - and hence more power . (Note: this as long as the tension is not too low i.e. the strings should not move around easily)
Q/ How often should I have my racquet restrung ? Should I just wait until I break a string ?
A/ Quite a lot of people do not think about having their racquets restrung until they break a string. This , however, is not the way to do it ! Over time a restring will very definitely lose tension, the strings will feel 'dead' and your play will suffer. There is a rule of thumb which says :-
If you play tennis, for example, three times a week then you should be looking to have your racquet restrung three times a year - regardless of whether or not you are breaking strings.
