The above diagram usually occurs the night before the race day and everyone looks forward to hearing the liberation time the following day.

The following diagram illustrates the actual race day.

The pigeons are liberated (released) from the transporter at the race point  at 11am and fly their own distance home to their own lofts .

After the pigeons fly over a hundred miles they arrive back home.

These are some examples of how we race pigeons.  I hope this gives the inquisitive person or new starter some insight as to how  our sport  works.  I will write out a very basic step by step guide on how to become a pigeon fancier starting with (PART 1 THE LOFT)
