Ecuador lies nestled in the Andes Mountains with Colombia to the north and Peru to the south. It is on the Equator from which it derives its name. The jungles of the Amazon basin lie inland to the east whilst the western coastline is on the Pacific Ocean. The Galapagos Islands also belong to Ecuador. The country is split into three main geographical regions - the eastern jungle, the central Andean mountains and the western coastal zone.

This site takes you on a journey from Quito southbound on the Pan-American Highway past the picture perfect Cotopaxi volcano and onwards to the cities of Ambato and Riobamba.  A brief detour leads to the spa town of Banos and the gateway to the Amazon jungle.  Finally, we head further south through spectacular mountain scenery and visit the Inca ruins at Ingapirca before arriving at the beautiful city of Cuenca with its magnificent churches and museums.
