Namibia lies in the South West of Africa, just above South Africa and below Angola. To the east is Botswana and to the west is the Atlantic Ocean. Namibia is a sparsely populated country full of wide-open spaces including the spectacular Namib Desert and the bleak Skeleton Coast. It is also rich in wildlife and has the magnificent Etosha National Park - one of Africa’s best game reserves.

The small and friendly Namibian capital city of Windhoek has a distinctly German colonial atmosphere and serves as the starting point for most journeys around the country. To the south of the city the Namib Desert stretches all the way to the ocean and the magnificent wind-driven sand dunes of Sossusvlei.  Here you will also find the ancient gorge at Sesriem Canyon and the wilderness of the Namib-Naukluft Park.  Further north up the coast lies the graceful old German seaside town of Swakopmund with the nearby seal colony of Cape Cross and the treacherous Skeleton Coast.  Heading inland, the scenery changes dramatically in the flat topped mountains and rock formations of Damaraland.  The rock engravings at Twyfelfontein are one of the most famous sights. And finally, one of Namibia’s  real gems - the Etosha National Park where most of Africa’s big game can be found in large numbers.
