S.w.a.m.p. performed around the Cambridge area from 1998 to late 2006 playing classic/progressive rock. The History of the members goes back through various bands - to the late 70's - when Mick and Pete first got together as a rhythm section (Pete is also an excellent fretless bass player) in a local New Wave band called The Zeds. In the early 80's Mick, Pete and Bill Terry (our original bassist) first played together in a jazz rock/funk group called Out of the East and from 1993 to 2000 Mick and Ken and Stuart had been involved in 2 incarnations of a 60's and 70's cover band firstly known as Matrix and then as The Timebeats. On 29th October 2003, Ken Scullard played his first gig with the band (strangely enough at the same venue as Bill's last gig). This change saw the band move away from the jazz side of things towards a more rockier element while still keeping the material challenging for us and interesting for the audience. We had an immediate increase in the number of gigs the band played - coincidence, I don't think so! From 2004 S.w.a.m.p. went from strength to strength performing at the Sutton Pop-in-the-Park to an crowd of around a 1000 people and at the Radio Caroline Rockin' Beerfest held at Huntingdon Racecourse as well as many local pubs and clubs in the Cambridge area. Visit the S.w.a.m.p. statistics page for a more detailed view of our gigging history. November 2006 saw S.w.a.m.p. play their last gig. Mick, Pete and Stuart now perform together as The Kurmújun. | ||||||
