Burn/Bedlam

Both "Burn" and "Bedlam" shared the same line up. The name change came when we discovered there was already a band called "Burn". The band was formed out of the old band "Livin' Dangerous" when my cousin Simon Pledger replaced Olaf Laos as rhythm guitarist.

After Simon came into the fold, the material began to shift from the 80's metal we had been playing with Livin' Dangerous (Poison, Cinderella, Dave Lee Roth, AC/DC) to a more 90's grunge/punk metal type of feel (Sex Pistols, Undertones, Metallica, Wolfsbane). The band played several gigs in and around Cambridge and supported local metallers "Hope and Glory" on several occasions.

One of our gigs was video'd for an MTV competition. The idea was to produce a video of your band performing AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" (a song which we all knew from the old bands set). The only problem was we didn't realise the closing date for competition was that night, so we had done it for nothing! It doesn't sound too bad though.

The band has now taken something of a hiatous (although we never officially split), because of other commitments. We did, however, get back together twice, to play at Dan's wedding and then Steve's wedding the following year (I had to word that carefully!) where we played a greatest hits kind of set.

Stuart Pledger - Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals
Steve "The Throat" Jackson - Vocals

The following pictures were taken at the, now defunct, Qualisound Rehearsal Studio at Bar Hill near Cambridge. Notice how no more than 4 people appear in any one shot. We couldn't get it together to organise someone to take pix of us!
