| "Current Event" was formed to play a one-off
charity gig at Soham (see the first 12 pictures below) in the Summer of 1989. This came about when "Scallywag" were originally booked to play the event
but were unable to do so when Andreas Rose left Cambridge for Teacher Training College in Northampton.
So I was left with a gig to play and no band.
I contacted the remaining former members of Cheap Sneakers (Chris had moved back to
Wales) and we got a set together of Beatles, Shadows and other stuff which was quick to rehearse. The evening was to prove so
successful (we blew the other band of the stage!!), that it was decided to keep going as a full time unit. The band remained together
for a year or so, but eventually broke up when Graham's other band "The Jailbreakers" started to take off and he had to leave
in early 1990. |
