After the success of
"The Hemingford Band" we decided it would be a good
idea to carry on as a more permanent unit and having found Phil Bryant (ex-"Strontium", along with Dan) to replace
Mick on drums, the scene was set for us to inflict '80's metal on the Cambridge masses.
The type of material Olaf and - to a certain extent - Dan and Steve were interested in was what later became known as 'hair bands'. This
meant a set list which included covers of songs by Cinderella, Poison and what was to become the bands 2 favourite
songs from a band called Dirty White Boy. These were "Lets Spend Mammas Money" and "Lazy Crazy", a riot of a song
which featured myself on slide guitar!
Other cover songs included in the set were from the ubiquitous AC/DC, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick,
UFO and our most ambitious song of that time "Knucklebones" by Dave Lee Roth.
The photographs below were from the Chatteris Rock competition were we won 2 heats and got through to the final only to be beaten into
3rd place. The band continued as a unit for about a year longer until it became obvious that a change was needed. With Olaf gone the band
turned into "Burn". |
