Henry CORNELL was a farmer of Little Sampford in Essex. One of his 7 children also named Henry became a miller at nearby Little Bardfield. They were members of an independent chapel in Finchingfield. Baptisms of the chapel are not preserved, so at present it is only a possibility that Susannah was one of the five daughters of the miller. Susannah married Francis Smith from a local farming family, but left him in Rotherhithe and lived with Edward STEVENS in Kingston on Thames. |
