The
first known ancestor is John EVANS who married and died in the small village
of Froyle, Hampshire. His son, though
also buried at Froyle, was a wine merchant of Slough, and there are many
other family connections with the Slough/Windsor area. It is believed therefore, that John was
baptised at Upton son of William & Jane John’s
daughter, Sarah, married a farmer at Stoke next Guildford and spent her
married life at Worplesdon in Surrey.
As a widow however, she spent some time at Windsor where two of her
children lived before moving back to Worplesdon. Her
grand-daughter was baptised Elizabeth Evans SMITHERS at Upton in 1838 just
100 years after John EVANS was baptised there. |
