BIRTH

John-8 was married in 1677 at Fowlis Wester, so was probably born around 1650. His eldest son was named Andrew, so he should be the son of Andrew. Patrick HALLEY, baptised children at Fowlis about the same time and also named his eldest son as Andrew. It is likely therefore that John and Patrick were brothers. However the Fowlis register commences in 1674, and nothing is known of the birth of John or Patrick.

Margaret ALLEN was probably born around 1650. She married at Fowlis Wester, but the register there commences in 1674. The nearest possible baptism found in the OPR index was at trinity gask some 5 miles away. Margaret ALLEN however is a common Scottish name
