[1] this family is included here since the
eldest son is named Andrew; there are other Fowlis HALLEY families at this time
and
later which have not been fitted into
the tree
[2] there is an earlier 1702 m of John
HALY to Elspet MILLER at Fowlis which may refer to the same John
[3] Andrew was christened at nearby Madderty church son of John;
this is probably John of Fowlis since the next child Anne was also
baptised at Madderty and there are no
other baptisms to John at Madderty besides these two. The baptism of Anne was also recorded
at Fowlis, so no doubt that Ann was d of
John of Fowlis Wester.
[4] William THOMSON was "of
Methven" when he married Ann at Fowlis Wester. The Fowlis register notes that he was executed the
following year for the murder of his
brother David. 5 years later, Ann of
Methven married Patrick BAIN of Fowlis Wester and
settled at Fornought in Fowlis only one
mile from Gorthy where Ann was born. It
seems probable that this is the same Ann
remarried.
