BIRTH

 

William baptised children up to 1720, died in 1752 and probably married in 1703.  A birth date around 1680 is expected, but was not found at Furneux Pelham, Brent Pelham or Stocking Pelham, or Berden not yet examined.  It is a common name in the IGI, the nearest being:

C 22Apr1678 s Thomas JOHNSON at Gravely HRT (10m)

 

 

MARRIAGE

 

Thomas JOHNSON-8 was baptised at Furneux Pelham in 1719, son of William & Mary.  There are two other baptisms to these parents in the parish in 1717 and 1720, but no suitable marriage.  There is an earlier William & Mary marriage in the neighbouring parish of Stocking Pelham only 2 miles away:

this marriage fits a last baptism in 1720 but is 14 years before the first baptism at Furneux.  If this is the correct marriage, then almost certainly there should be children born between 1703 and 1717.  There are three possible baptisms at Brent Pelham to William JOHNSON immediately following the marriage, and since the first daughter was named Mary, it is likely that these are to William & Mary, suggesting that this is the correct marriage

There is still a gap of 8 years between the baptisms at Brent & Furneaux Pelham.  No C were found at Stockimg Pelham, but no other parishes (eg Berden in Essex) have been searched.  No suitable C in IGI.   Burials at Brent Pelham have not been searched for the required burial of William
