3 Frances Martha KILBOURN 1850-1904

m Thomas William SHORT 1876

Frances Martha (sometimes known as Fanny) was born, married and died in the East End.  She was born in 1850 and her father was a boxmaker and labourer and lived in the poorer parts of Bethnal Green, frequently changing address.

Frances probably went into service before marrying Thomas SHORT when she was 26.  Thomas was an oilman and five years younger than Frances.  At first they lived with Frances' parents, but her mother died less than a year after the marriage.

Three sons were born at different addresses in Bethnal Green before the family settled at 306 Roman Rd where two more sons and a daughter were born. One son died of croup aged 7.  The family moved first to Armagh Rd, Bow, and then to nearby Cardigan Rd, where Frances died of cancer aged 54 in 1904.  Thomas outlived her for 15 years.
