BIRTH

Thomas was first married in 1694 at Middleton Stoney, but was of Stratton Audley.  He died in 1743 so a birth date of around 1670 is indicated.  The registers of Stratton Audley however have not survived before 1696; the first KING entries are in 1700, when several KING families were baptising  children.  It seems likely that Thomas was born there.  No suitable baptism of Thomas was found at Middleton Stoney where registers start much earlier

MARRIAGE

Robert KING-8 was baptised at Wendlebury in 1699, the earliest known child of Thomas & Margaret.  The only suitable m in the OXF m index was found at Middleton Stoney.

from the Middleton Stoney register:

m 22Oct1696 Thomas KING wid & Margaret HADDON alias SMITH at Middleton Stoney

Middleton Stoney is only 3 miles from Wendlebury and the combination of name date and place leaves little doubt that this is the correct marriage.  The alias suggests that Margaret was previously married, as was Thomas.  Thomas' first marriage took place two years previously at Middleton Stoney

m 13May1694 Thomas KING of Stratton Audley & Ann BRODERTON of Stratton Audley at Middleton Stoney

Stratton Audley is about 6 miles from Middleton Stoney with Bicester in between and the m is followed by a baptism and then the burial of Ann:
