[1] Donald (or Daniel) was of Fowlis Wester when he married in 1778, suggesting a possible relationship with John who married

there 10 years later

[2] there is no proof that the John McLEAN and Anna BAYNE who baptised Peter at Culross are the same as the couple at Fowlis

Wester, but the circumstantial evidence makes it likely

[3] there is an 1851 Kinnoul census which has John ploughman b Fowlis Wester, but aged 50 not 60 as required for this John; had

wife Mary and children Jemima 1834, Mary 1837, James 1840, Jessie 1841.
