6 David McNAB 1754->1798

m Christian McINTOSH 1781

David McNAB was born in Killiechaisie near Weem and seems to have been baptised both at Weem and at neighbouring Logierait, son of Thomas McNAB and Christian McINTOSH.

He became a farmer and in 1781 he married a girl of the same name as his mother, possibly his cousin though no relationship has been confirmed.  David was then in Killiechasie but the marriage was in his wife's parish, nearby Dull.

David and Christian baptised two children at Logierait while living at Killiechasie but then they moved to Dull and baptised four more children.  In Dull they lived first in Tighanduin and then in the Brae of Monass.  No further records are known.

BIRTH

David McNAB was married at Dull in 1781 when he was in the parish of Logierait.  There is only one suitable baptism in the OPR index, and it is entered for both Logierait and for the parish of Weem lying between Dull and Logierait:

C 10Feb1754 David s Thomas MCNAB & Christian MCINTOSH in Balnacraig                (Weem PR)

C  9Apr1754 David s Thomas McNAB & Christian McINTOSH in Balnacraig of Killichasie (Logierait PR)

This must refer to the same child, so perhaps he was baptised twice.  Since David McNAB also lived in Killichasie like Thomas, it seems fairly certain that this is the correct baptism.  David's wife was also named Christian McINTOSH though no relation has been established, and his second daughter was named Christian in accordance with Scottish naming pattern.    Against this however, David's eldest known son was named John not Thomas.  Possibly a son named Thomas was born in the interval between 1783 and 1787 but not recorded.

MARRIAGE

Grizel McNAB was baptised at Logierait in 1783, daughter of David McNAB & Christian McINTOSH.  The OPR index has a marriage there on 14 and 17 July 1781.  This was not found in the Logierait register, but the marriage was proclaimed in the neighbouring parish of Dull:
