Robert PENDER was born in St Buryan in 1682, the son of a gentleman, Oliver PENDER. Robert was also a gentleman, and married Alice WALSH in the neighbouring parish of Sennen when he was 30.

Robert and Alice baptised six children at St Buryan, one at Sennen and one at Paul, both adjacent to St Buryan.

Robert was buried at St Buryan aged 85, but the burial of Alice has not been found

BIRTH

Robert PENDER married ar Sennen in 1712, baptised children up to 1730, and was buried in 1767. His birth date must therefore be fairly close to 1680, and there is a suitable baptism at St Buryan, the parish where he baptised nearly all of his children:

note that Oliver was referred to as Mr, as was Robert himself at the baptism of his daughter Elizabeth and the burial of his daughter Mary, indicating a relatively well-off family

MARRIAGE

John-6 was baptised in Paul in 1730, son of Robert PENDER, but there are no other records relating to Robert in the Paul register at this time. The IGI however has many PENDER records in the adjacent parish St Buryan, and the register of St Buryan has a series of baptisms to Robert and Alice PENDER concluding in 1726, just 4 years before the baptism of John at Paul. The villages of Paul and St Buryan are less than 4 miles apart, and in view of the single reference to Robert at Paul, there seems little doubt that John was the last child of Robert and Alice. The PENDER family tree shows other members of the family moved from St Buryan to Paul. The marriage of Robert and Alice was found in the parish of Sennen, 3 miles from St Buryan:

DEATH

Although their last child was baptised at Paul, there is no evidence that Robert and Alice moved to that parish, as no subsequent records of Robert or Alice have been found there. On the other hand, a suitable burial of Robert was found at St Buryan:
