BIRTH

It is presently assumed that John-9 married Martha around 1680-1690 at Forest Hill and baptised children there to 1703.  This is quite speculative in the absence of the parish register, which is lacking the years 1680-1700.  If this hypothesis is correct however, there is a suitable baptism for John-9 at Forest Hill.  There was only one family of SOANES in the Forest Hill register baptising at this time, and their family includes a suitable John:

C 14Jul1663 John  s Thomas SOAN

MARRIAGE

It is presently assumed that John-8 was the son of John & Martha, born around 1690 at Forest Hill in the period for which the parish registers are deficient.  Their last child William was baptised at Forest Hill in 1703 so, assuming a 10/20 year child-bearing span, the marriage would have been about 1680/90.  No suitable marriage has been found in the IGI or Oxford m index and it is likely that this also occurred at Forest Hill during the period 1680-1700 for which the registers are lacking

DESCENDANTS

from Forest Hill register:

C  2Nov1701 Joseph    s John SONES

C 19Sep1703 William   s John SONES

John-8 married in 1716 and is assumed to have been born around 1690/5.  Another possible descendant is Thomas who baptised children at Forest Hill from 1714 to 1727.  His last child was named Martha, but no sons were named John, and at the baptism of his first child Edmund he was noted as Thomas junior; more likely therefore that he was the son of another Thomas, though the only previous Thomas at Forest Hill was baptised in 1651 and no evidence that he had any descendants.

DEATH

Martha's name is known only from the following burial at Forest Hill:

B  5Mar1748 John SOANS & Martha  his wife

if the baptisms of John-9 in 1663 has been correctly identified, then he would have died aged 85.  It is interesting John & Martha were buried on the same day, but no explanation has been found.
