Betty TILBURY was born in the small Hampshire village of Froyle, and she married John EVANS there when she was 24. Only two children of John and Betty are known, James and Sarah, both baptised at Froyle. James became a wine merchant of Slough. Sarah married a farmer in Guildford and lived in Worplesdon. Betty’s husband, John, was buried in 1819 in Froyle churchyard where his gravestone still stands. After the death of her husband, Betty went to live with her married daughter in Worplesdon, where she died six years later, aged 79 |

Elizabeth’s age at burial gives her a birth date of about 1746. She was married at Froyle in 1770, and there is a suitable baptism in the parish:

note the baptismal name Betty, the same as at her marriage; there was a baptism of Elizabeth to these parents the previous year. Tilbury burials at Froyle have not been were recorded by me.
Sarah EVANS 5 was baptised in 1780 at Froyle Hants, daughter of John & Elizabeth EVANS. One other baptism to these parents was found at Froyle in 1773, and this was preceded by the following marriage in the same parish:

no other baptisms found on original, or transcript of Froyle; no others identified from IGI for Hants Bucks Berks
the burial of John was found in the Froyle register but not Elizabeth

and a single gravestone in the churchyard commemorates his burial and that of their son James:

James EVANS who died 4 May 1836 aged 64
Elizabeth’s married daughter Sarah lived in Worplesdon, and the register there has the following burial:

there are no other EVANS families or records in Worplesdon, and the suitable name age and date leaves little doubt that this is the burial of Elizabeth 6 who went to live with her daughter after the death of her husband
