All the known events in Sarah’s life took place in Witham. She was born there in 1714, and married Matthew WENDON a weaver and widower at Witham when she was 20. She bore 4 children and baptised them at Witham.and was probably buried there in 1788 aged 71 |

Sarah was
of Witham when she married in 1737.
There are few VAILES records at Witham or in Essex generally, but one of them is a
suitable baptism for Sarah:
C 9May1714 Sarah da John & Mary VAILES b 25Nov1713
There is
no confirming evidence that this is the correct baptism, but it is the right
time, right place, and VAILES
is not a common name. It seems safe to
assume that this is correct

there are two possible burials of Sarah at Witham:
B 11Nov1753 Sarah WENDON – [age 39 after birth of last child in Aug 1752]
B 14Dec1788 Sarah WENDON parish [age 74]
Not
possible to sort out, but most likely is the 1788 parish burial, leaving
the 53 (or another in 51) for her
daughter.
