[1]     Zach VALES, labourer of Witham sentenced 12Mar1693/4 to be hanged for theft of beef, fowl etc   Zach VALE, labourer of St James Colchester sentenced 18Mar1695/6 to be hanged for stealing shirts, waistcoats etc; may be the same man who escaped the first sentence, but assumed to be father and son

 

[2]     no evidence that William was son of Zachariah other than that he would have been born about the right time, and both were at Witham

 

[3]     no evidence that John was son of John other than right time and place and same name; timing not right to be son of Thomas

 

[4]     No C for William or Thomas; could be sons of William and Ann; more likely perhaps to be sons of John & Elizabeth PULLIN who were m in 1691 but had no baptisms recorded at Witham until 1708.  Probably baptised children elsewhere during the blank 17 years

 

[5]     Sarah was b25Nov1713 d John & Mary VAILES, but John & Mary SAVAGE m 4Sep1715 according to IGI; needs checking on original
