Old
photographs of Goole, Howden and surrounding Yorkshire villages |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
These pages contain a selection of old photographs of Goole, Howden, Gilberdyke, Newport, Blacktoft, Laxton, Saltmarshe, Sandhall, Skelton, Asselby, Barmby Marsh, Booth, Airmyn, Rawcliffe, Snaith, Reedness, Swinefleet, South Cave, Eastoft, Ellerton, Bubwith, Knedlington, Broomfleet, Faxfleet and other surrounding villages of East and West Yorkshire. I have many more dating from the 1890s to the 1980s and so this section of the website keeps expanding! There are many old pictures of people, teams, events, ships and streets from around the Goole/Howden area and also from further afield. See a selection of old pictures of Goole and surrounding villages - Airmyn, Drax, Eastoft, Hook, Hensall, Rawcliffe, Reedness, Snaith and Swinefleet. Or have a look at some old pictures of Howden and surrounding villages - Asselby, Barmby on the Marsh, Brantingham, Booth, Blacktoft, Broomfleet, Bubwith, Eastrington, Ellerton, Faxfleet, Gilberdyke, Howdendyke, Knedlington, Laxton, Newport, North Cave, Portington, Sandhall, Skelton, Saltmarshe, Sandholme, South Cave, Spaldington, Wressle There are also some mystery pictures - old photographs which have come to me with very little information. Many of them appeared in the Goole Times but I do not know when and in most cases I do not know who the people are or where the photograph was taken. A few are taken from glass negatives and are probably of villages in the Goole and Howden area but most were taken at events around Goole, Howden, Snaith and the surrounding villages. There are old photos of bonny baby competitions from Hook Gala, of school trips leaving Goole railway station, of old folks' parties, Goole nurses, golden weddings and many others dating from the 1950s onwards. Any help in identifying places or people in these pictures is much appreciated!
