EX-GWR 2-6-0 tank 4555 Paignton and Dartmouth Railway in 1999. Ex-GWR 2-6-0 tank locomotive number 4555 (built Swindon) now named 'Warrior' was one of the two locomotives servicing the summer peak timetable.

King Edward II King Edward II

An unusual visitor to Southern rails - a late running ex-GWR King Edward II runs past New Milton on Saturday 13th November 1999.

KEII headed a Pathfinder Tours train that had started from Crewe at 04:30! KEII suffered problems and was helped along by a Class 33 diesel at the rear of the train.

Dorset Flyer BR Standard Class 5

Ex BR Standard Class 5 headed the Dorset Flyer through Sway (New Forest) on Saturday 15th May 1999.

Running 10 minutes late, the locomotive was working hard as it passed through Sway on its way to Weymouth.

A summer afternoon at Sway in Hampshire - EWS diesel loco hauls empty stone trucks towards Bournemouth on 1st July. The station (UK 'Most Passenger Friendly Station') was soon to echo to the sound of a Merchant Navy at speed.......
