Before She Was Born....

Before

Maia's expected date of delivery was the 20th of January 2003. In the early stages of pregnancy she was nicknamed "Bubba" and in the later stages this name was changed to "Minnie the Minx" because of all the "trouble" she caused.

5th June 2003

This was the first time we saw Bubba. Bubba age was approximately was 6 weeks and 6 days old. According to the scan Bubba was roughly 10.1mm in size.

10th July 2002

This is the second time we saw Bubba. Bubba's age was approximately 12 weeks and 2 days old. Bubba is lying on his (or her) back, with his (or her) head at the first hand side. His (or her) little hand is raised above its head. The question is he (or she) waving or giving us the finger?

IT's A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!

Yup. We're is pretty sure the scan shows its a little girl!! Obviously this isnt 100% - we really wont know that until Jan, but the odds are pretty high we're having a wee lass!! (or a Quine, which is Aberdonian for girl! )

She's 15 cm long and VERY active, she wouldn't lay still udring the scan so that shecould be checked out but eventually after about an hour and a half and a 20 min walk, she was given the all clear!!

It was funny, i didn't think we were going to know what sex she was because she was SO active: when her toes were getting checked, she kept grabbing at them - lol! Its was so lovely, i just cant tell you!

At one point we saw a view of her side and her little hand came up and looked as though she was drumming her fingers on her tummy - all you saw were these little bones so obviously fingers!! I could go on and on....It was truly amazing!!

I'm totally over the moon..!

13 December 2002

This is the fourth time we saw Bubba, now known as "Minnie the Minx". I am approximately 34 weeks and 4 days pregnant. We found out today Minnie is lying in a breach position, not only that but she is lying with her legs up over her head i.e. bum down. Also known as a double breach position or extended breach. This is why everyone thought she was small...actually she is a good size...just above average!

At 37 weeks I have to make an appointment with the midwife so that she can check to see if the wee minx has turned. If not, I have to make an appointment with the consultant to decide what to do. They recommend trying to manually turn the baby (OUCH!), and then allow me to go through a natural birth, if poss....Or else i will be booked in for a C-section the following week.

The cute thing about the scan is that we saw that she has lots of hair. You can see it in the scan picture. All that fuzz.... LOL!

27th December 2002

The good news is that Minnie has turned. She is in a good position for labour. So things should go ahead naturally.....

14th January 2002

I was admitted to hospital at this point because of a condition known as proteinurea. Minnie was fine but my own kidneys were under suspicion. After several tests it was decided that Minnie should be induced so that they could further investigate what was causing the proteinurea. Minnie finally arrived on Friday 17th of January 2003 at 09:18 after a 10 hour labour.
