Coles Barn

This ruin of a once proud barn stands at the junction of ancient track-ways that once connected outlying farms and habitations.  Although the barn’s history is unknown it is probable that it was named after John Cole who in 1647 petitioned Parliament for the building of a new church. In 1642 Royalist soldiers had burnt down the old Norman church during a Civil War skirmish.
