Training

Training for members of the team is an ongoing daily task. Handlers and their dogs work to develop their skills constantly. High levels of simple obedience are required if the teams are to make it through their training and assessments to become a functioning search resource. Handlers keep a record of their training searches and build up a portfolio of evidence of their competence. This in addition to other training in map reading, first aid, manual handling, radio procedures is all required to make the group a safe and available resource for the people of Caithness and Sutherland.
