Sid's Fresh Fish is a long established stall, originally run by Sid, but now run by Sid's son Dave. Dave maintains a varied supply of fresh fish on every working day. It would take me too much space to list all the different varieties of sea-food, but if you cannot find it fresh here, you are unlikely to find it fresh anywhere in Brighton & Hove.

Dave will willingly weigh the piece of fish of your choice. He is pleased to match your purchase with what you have to spend. He does not mind whether you spend £40 or 99p. I am a 99p customer, but I have seen £40 customers in front of me in the queue for this very popular stall (depleting much of the stock before it was my turn to buy!). I tend to be an afternoon customer, but remember that the market is open from 7 am. If you want to take the fish to work with you, Dave will wrap it in plenty of paper and it will probably still be fresh when you get home!

All the standard range is usually available as fresh fish - come early for the best selection:

| haddock fillets | smoked haddock | cod fillets | plaice | lemons sole | trout | salmon |
| mackeral | herring | coley | kippers | sardines | tuna | sprats | roe | shrimps | squid | cockles |
| mussells | crab | oysters |
Frozen products such as sword-fish are also available.

You can select the piece you want or it can be cut to size.

Everything is always well displayed. You can also see samples of Dave's pictures. He not only knows all about cooking all the products on his stall, but is quite an accomplished painter. The painting on display in front of the fan is a copy of a commission capturing the West Pier in its delapidated state before the fire in 2003.
