eeJay Publishers was formed in December 1993 by Tom and John Strang. Its prime objective at that time was to meet the growing demand for a suitable Mathematics Homework resource for use in Primary Schools in Scotland. We produced our first photocopiable homework pack (SPMG4) in January 1994 and quickly followed with 3 remaining SPMG packs before producing homework to match the new Heinemann textbooks. Within one year of its formation, Teejay Publishers was selling to over 800 primary schools.
rom close contact with many head teachers, we were requested to look at other problem areas within mathematics for which no existing support resources were available. This led us to producing a variety of new materials, hitherto unavailable, which we were able to offer to schools.
hese included 5–14 packs, general Revision/Consolidation as well as our new Mental resources, and our “Slow Learners Support Packs” (differentiated) which are proving extremely popular. To date over 1500 primary schools now use Teejay Publishers photocopiable materials.
n 1996, we turned our attention to Secondary Schools. Since bringing out our “Ultimate Standard Grade and Higher” revision packs that year, we have produced a wide range of support materials for secondary schools. Virtually every secondary school in Scotland now use our resources.
eejay Publishers is now the largest Scottish based supplier of photocopiable Mathematics support material in Scotland and we now sell to Independent Schools, Colleges, Education wings of the Prison and Health Services, private tutorial groups and directly to parents.
ecently, more and more Councils throughout Scotland, Dundee City Council, Inverclyde Council, South Ayrshire Council and Highland Region Council, etc., are buying our resources centrally, and distributing them to their schools.
e have come a long way in 7 years and hope to continue to produce high quality, inexpensive support materials to make teachers’ lives a little easier and we thank you for your support and suggestions over the years and hope this may continue. We would also like to thank the many Network Support Teams throughout Scotland who have brought Teejay Publishers to the attention of so many primary and secondary schools.
