 Tell is a professional artist, based in Somerset, UK., producing highly detailed, commissioned portraits, landscapes and wildlife paintings. He works mostly in oils and has a reputation for achieving excellent results, especially with his portraits.

Paintings and prints of his meticulously detailed studies of natural history subjects can be seen in private collections around the world.

A founder member of the IHS (International Herpetological Society), Tell is well known for his herpetological illustrations, and his passion for reptiles has taken him around the globe in the study of these fascinating creatures. He has played an active part in their conservation and gives regular lectures to natural history societies and specialist groups.

In 1997 he was awarded 1st place competition winner by Screenprinting' Magazine and in 1999 was 1st place winner with 'Impressions' Magazine. In the same year he also received the 'Golden Image' award from the SGIA (the most prestigious award given in the industry).

The 12th Century costume and sword details were carefully researched to produce an historically accurate illustration for this story of Empress Matilda - "The Forgotten Queen".
