Report extracted from Issue 5 of the Wildscape publication.
Boelen's PythonRunner-up in the Professional Category isTell Hicks for his striking oil painting of a Boelen's Python.

This painting has had much careful thought put into the composition as well as the technical considerations for the application of the medium. The addition of the Ullysses butterfly and Hibiscus flowers are all in context with the snake which is found in the New Guinea Highlands.

This is a very graphic work and Tell's techniques for achieving that glorious iridescence in the snake's skin is so skillfully rendered.

Tell Hicks featured in the last Wildscape magazine issue when he related his interests in drawing and painting snakes and lizards, plus his activities in conserving reptiles.
