April 2nd:

Kurt arrived at Sea-Tac airport in Tacoma at 12:47am (the flight from LA to Seattle is approximately two and a half hours); he was witnessed here signing autographs. Linda Walker, a hired driver of Seattle Limousine car service was there waiting for Kurt as he had called ahead sometime earlier and arranged to be picked up. She drove him to the Lake Washington house, dropping him off at around 1:30am.

Michael Dewitt, “Cali” was staying at the house with girlfriend Jessica Hopper [would you invite your girlfriend to stay over if you were involved in a murder plot? - Cali is the fall guy, look elsewhere i.e Eric Erlandson]; he evidently told police that he awoke around 6am to find Kurt sitting on his bed, where they talked for a while before Kurt left. Cali claims he told Courtney of this event later that day which is reflected in Peninsula hotel phone records confirming they were in frequent communication. Tom Grant's explanation

Excerpt of Cali's statement:

A vacuous rebuttal to this inconsistency is presented in Heavier than Heaven that Cali was “still confused from the previous days events, Cali thought Kurt’s bedside visit was simply a dream”, and he didn’t inform Courtney until he realised the truth on Monday, April 4th.

Interestingly Hank believes upon Kurt's return he regained possession of the house and threw Cali out, according to Love&Death p.188, Courtney states Kurt was indeed planning to fire Cali as his services had become redundant - "It's important to know why he went back to Seattle. Since he must have told someone what his motives were, I'm still wondering why those people haven't come forward. Maybe they had their mouths stuffed full of money. I am certain Kurt went back to Seattle to sign papers... he was also planning to shift the bank accounts around... he was getting ready to go into hiding."

At 7:30am a driver from 'Gray Top Cab' firm picked up a man from the Lake Washington Blvd residence:
"The driver picked up a person who he thought did not match with the residence. He drove around looking for a place to buy bullets, but was unable to find one. This male told the driver that he recently been burgled and needed bullets. At 8.30am the driver dropped the man off in the area of 145th and Aurora because he said he was hungry and wanted to get something to eat. The man's fare was $27" - Police Report
"a person who he thought did not match with the residence” – surely this cab driver would recognise Kurt Cobain?
Apparently Kurt did manage to purchase a box of 20 gauge shotgun shells later that day from Seattle Guns. (Heavier than Heaven). Although no proof of this has been presented.

"She [Carroll] is particularly sceptical about the claim that Kurt was with Dylan when he bought the shotgun. Carroll believes Dylan had concocted the story." - (Love & Death UK, p.160)

Later that night Courtney had a story planted in the Associated Press that she had overdosed on drugs and was in hospital, the intent was to apparently get Kurt’s attention.
