April 5th:

Tuesday, the date given for the official time of death  within a 24hr window.

Tom Grant - "Regardless of what the Seattle police  and King County Medical Examiner's have said, Kurt  Cobain died Sunday evening, April 3rd or early  Monday morning, April 4th... anyone claiming to have  seen him after 7:30 AM on Monday morning is either  lying or they don't really exist. Most information about  these "witnesses" has been deliberately planted in  the media." This is also reflected in the belief Kurt  was at Carnation, an attempt to suggest he was in no  rush to leave Seattle.

"The motive for planting phony stories in the press  and,  more importantly, within the police department  is  critical as it deflects attention away from the  actions  of certain persons on other dates - the 3rd or  4th, for  instance, which some believe was when Kurt  actually  died. It may even have gone to the point  where the  medical examiners, assuming the absence  of  corruption, had doubts about the time of death  suggested by physical indicators - livor mortis, skin  slippage, etc. - when an apparently large number of  people reported sightings or contact with Cobain after  an initial estimated time of death. When enough confusion surrounds a case, the police are much more apt to believe the testimonies of a smaller number of people closer to the situation who they think can be trusted." - Further Behind the Scenes

At 2:50pm Grant believes he has located Kurt at The Western Evergreen under his favourite alias: Bill Bailey. He offers to check it out but Courtney tells him not to bother, she would take care of it. She later tells Grant she called the room and it wasn't him.... but just maybe she had located Kurt.

This is also believed to be the date given for the electrical contractors to begin work on the house – they were concerned that there might be unauthorised people staying in the house.”

Cognate to Heavier than Heaven, in the afternoon Courtney apparently sent Eric Erlandson to the Lake Washington home to look for Kurt. “You guys [Cali and Jessica] have to help me look,” he ordered, and insisted they check the secret compartment in the back of the master bedroom closet, which Courtney had told him Kurt used. They didn’t find the gun, insinuating Kurt was already dead. Eric then rushed off to the property at Carnation where Kim Cobain was apparently staying at the time. Kat Bjelland was also known to have lived there.

Gillian Gaar of The Rocket was scheduled to do a phone interview with Courtney that day but Eric phoned the magazine and told them it would have to be postponed.

Courtney continues to hound Dylan, but he is just as puzzled as to Kurt's whereabouts, apparently.
