WELCOME TO
GEORGE BAILEY's
PERSONAL SPOT
GEORGE BAILEY (yours truly)
Personal
Born----23rd December 1948. Educated to
secondary school standard at Knoll sec. school for boys. At leaving school joined
the then Post Office communications which I continued to do until 1998 under
its eventual title of British Telecom.
With over 20 years 1750's-1815 living history, and over 40 years of historic interest behind me, I have managed accumulated a reasonable amount of knowledge spread across a variety of spheres. The spread of interest allows me to make any talk based on the periods mentioned to be both informative and RELEVANT to today's culture. The main spread of history, some 75 years also allows history to be shown as a story of development.
Alongside normal "living history" events at such sites as THE ROYAL PAVILLION BRIGHTON. I have over the years been involved in filming for the B.B.C.(the series Soldiers), corporate events and employed at sites such as Elizabeth Castle Jersey in the capacity of "expert speaker". I am willing to give talks up to 70 miles from Brighton (in the U.K.) but if travelling in the U.S.A.(which I love) I am willing to make a detour if time and/cause permits.
Below are two photographs illustrating what
to me is the greatest reward of the hobby-- the first demonstrating the
function of a tinderbox to school children, the second assisting Maj. Gen Ian
Mackay Dick of the British army of the Rhine, in the use of a "Brown
Bess" Musket.
(I would like to thank PAUL CHAMBERLANE for
permission to use the former photograph, and Soldier Magazine for the use of
the later).

I have also been involved in event
organising; this includes three major Napoleonic Association
"battles" two in Southern England and in
Other interests and activities include active
membership of Portslade Hedgehoppers walking/running club and have run a number
of Marathons including

Last but not least organising/participation in B.T./ex B.T. entry in the annual Shoreham Bath tub Race.
