What is MODPlug?

MODPlug is a browser plugin for PC Netscape, MIE or Opera, which plays MOD files.

Alright then, what are MODs?

They're a bit like incredibly cool MIDI. In fact, they're something of a cross between MIDI and WAV files. And they are incredibly cool. The file sizes are tiny compared to wav files of the same quality and length, but the quality is far higher than a MIDI file. Look below to see a comparitive example of a MOD file and a WAV copy of this file.
Note : This is not *THE* "Do the Bartman", but a remix.
Bartman.modBartman.wav (click to download a copy)
QualityAs high as your computer will go. I usually play at 40 KHz, 16Bit, Stereo8 KHz, 8bit, Mono (was reduced to make an acceptable file size)
Length2min 14sec30 sec
File size308Kb234Kb
The origional 1 miniute WAV recording I took of this at 40KHz, 16Bit, Stereo took up NINE MEGABYTES! A WAV of the whole 2m 14s song would have taken up over 20MB, instead of 0.308MB!

Lower quality WAV versions of the other MOD's used on my page are here.
Simpsons Theme (30s, 8KHz, 8bit, Mono)
Theme Remix (30s, 8KHz, 8bit, Mono)
