Barbara Allen was born in Belfast in 1959,attended Glengormley High School and
graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree in Graphic Design in 1982.
On leaving art school Barbara developed her unique watercolour style, rendering
vernacular buildings with a delicious texture.
In recent years Barbara has spent a lot of time in Donegal giving cottages,
lighthouses, shopfronts and boathouses a positively Mediterranean flavour.
Recent corporate commissions include watercolour paintings for Magee
University and Belfast Metropolitan College. Recent
private commissions have been as far apart as Kensington Road Knock and
Rockford, Illinois.
The old "farm gate" style bicycle has become a trademark in Barbara's
paintings and featured in the new watercolours and Giclee prints shown
in the Wickerman.
