EXHIBITION NOVEMBER 2010

by James Skelton

James Skelton is a young artist working in Belfast. He is in his second year at the University of Ulster and this is his first exhibition. All the pieces on display are original work, some completed when he was just 13. The slates are handcarved and laced with silver paint to catch the light, and the designs are drawn in old inks which were discontinued around a decade ago. When the inks run out no more of this line of designs will be able to be reproduced. Although Celtic in flavour, the pieces draw on even older influences; Babylonian and Persian
