BULLIED OR HARASSED?
What is harassment? If you feel intimated, that is harassment.
No form of harassment at work is acceptable, from patients or colleagues - do not tolerate it.
Contact your RCN steward. If you prefer not to report to someone locally contact your regional office directly.
Keep a record of any instances that cause you to feel intimated. Note any witnesses.
Keep copies of any relevant correspondence - received or sent.
Be aware of any protocol your employer may have to deal with such instances.
Contact RCN WING at any point for support and advice.
FEELING STRESSED?
Potentially, anyone can be adversely affected by stress; it is not a sign of weakness or a generalised inability to cope.
Different people are sensitive to different stresses. If you are finding it difficult to sleep, or are sleeping too much, have lost your appetite, find it hard to concentrate and are inclined to tearfulness, you are probably depressed - see your family doctor.
Depression is a treatable condition, in many cases people recover without recurrence. Medical help is essential.
Work is not always the cause of excess stress, though a break may give you a chance to cope with the other things. Do not feel guilty if you need some time away from work. You will receive a certificate from your doctor.
ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT AT WORK?
What to do - A quick guide
Contact your local Steward or Safety Representative. Submit sick notes regularly and ensure that they are submitted by your employer to the DSS Benefits Agency, as failure to do so may delay or prevent payment of Invalidity Benefit.
Contact RCN Wing at any point for support and advice. Make an early appointment with your doctor so that it is recorded in you health record.
Keep personal records of all correspondence, appointments, treatment, medication and investigations.
Again if you need any help of advice contact...
