Lakshman Jhula Bridge
Famous in the sixties for being the place The Beatles went to study meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, it is still touted as the yoga capital of the world, with its many ashrams, though the Maharishi's ashram is now closed to foreigners. Rishikesh is an important pilgrimage site, and is where the Holy Ganges flows from the Himalayas into the plains.It's very picturesque, and filled with colourful characters, and Sadhus, or Holy men. I stayed on an ashram both times I was there.
